Huck Highstrike’s family fled Ala Mhigo as refugees, seeking a new life in the bustling city of Ul’dah. But for Huck, life on the streets was far from kind. Growing up in the shadow of the city’s towering wealth and unyielding sand, he quickly learned to fend for himself. By his late teens, his love for brawling and fiery temper found an outlet in the form of a local gang. As the muscle of the crew, Huck earned his keep through intimidation and violence, using his fists to collect gil to support his struggling family. But his unchecked ego and temper led him to cross the wrong individual; a wealthy merchant who refused to comply. After the altercation left the merchant severely injured, Huck was swiftly arrested and sentenced to years in the depths of Ul’dah’s prison system.Behind bars, Huck’s life took a turn as he fell in with another gang, under the mentorship of an older Highlander inmate who taught him to hone his raw strength into refined combat skills. For a time, he served as an enforcer for the gang, perpetuating the same cycle of violence that had landed him in prison. But during a riot that threatened to engulf the prison in chaos, Huck made a choice that altered his path. Siding with the guards, he helped quell the violence despite suffering injuries himself. His actions earned him an unusual reprieve: a place in the Immortal Flames, where he could serve out the remainder of his sentence.Upon separation from the Immortal Flames, Huck took to mercenary work, lending his brawn to various free companies across Eorzea. Yet, his path eventually led him to become a courier for Unbound Sigil Co. where he handles an assortment of artifacts and items for the free company.
Fears of the Unknown: Huck is notoriously terrified of ghosts, yokai, and other supernatural entities. However, Huck is willing to help when it is asked for and will aid in dealing with these threats, despite having to face his fears head on.Family Ties: Huck has a very large family tree, the boughs of which shake with inn keepers, merchants, ex-gladiators and chocobo ranchers. Perhaps you've met a Highstrike, Fenrisbane or other relative.Prison Pals: Though Huck's time in prison and his past actions as a gang enforcer still weigh heavily on him, perhaps you've known someone that was a victim of Huck's actions or was locked away with Huck.Healing Hands, Hidden Danger: Huck is thankful for those that dip into the knowledge and expertise of healing arts, but he is dreadfully afraid of them. Believing that anyone that is able to heal you also has the skills to kill and therefore healers cannot be trusted.Spar Partner: Huck's passion lies in brawling and fighting. Doesn't matter where or when, if he has a reason to get involved, he'll happily enter the fray. If you're looking for a sparring partner or someone to teach you how to throw a punch, Huck's happy to help.Mercenary for Hire: Huck’s time as a free company mercenary makes him a useful ally for adventurers in need of muscle.The Old Gang: Huck’s time in a gang during his youth left him with enemies and allies who might resurface. You might have an old score to settle or know someone who has been accosted by Huck's old gang ties, the Iron Hides.
